“Can I help?” asked Pippin Bear.

“When you’re big.” replied Mummy Brown Bear.

“But I want to help now!” said the young bear and headed off into the forest.

Mummy Brown bear is stretching to pluck a bee hive from the branch of a tall tree.

She is struggling to reach.

A few bees are buzzing around her.

He looked up and saw a family of birds.

“I don’t want to be a small bear anymore” he said, “when will I be big?”

“Well, when you can fly of course!” said Papa Bird. “That’s when my chicks will be big.”

“Oh dear” thought Pippin “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fly”

The family take flight with their chicks flapping their wings and wobbling.

He carried on until he saw a great Elk snuffling in the long grass.

“When you have a pair of antlers as big as mine!” replied the Elk.

“Oh dear” thought Pippin “I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to grow antlers”

The Elk lifts its head to show a massive pair of antlers and food in his mouth

Pippin Bear was worried he’d never be big.

He looked up and saw an old owl sitting in the hollow of a tree.

“I can’t grow antlers. I will never fly. I just want to reach the honey. Will I ever be big?” he asked.

“When you’re wise enough to think for yourself” said the old owl “That’s when I knew I was big.”

Pippin thought,

And thought,

And thought. Until…

“I’ve got an idea!” he cried.

Vignettes as Pippin goes back to the Old Owl, the Elk and the Birds whilst he thinks up a plan. They join him as he leads them back to the bee hive.

Mummy Brown Bear had still not reached the honey.

“Come on friends” said Pippin Bear “I’ve got a plan...”

Mummy Brown Bear cannot reach the honey.

Bees are starting to buzz.

Mummy Brown bear balanced on the Elk’s broad back with Pippin on her shoulders. The wise old owl giving directions. Whilst Mama and Papa birds distract the bees.

The tower is wobbling and could fall over but Pippin is so close to the hive.

The tower of friends comes crashing down and the hive is up in the air.

The not-so-big bear had got his honey.

All the friends are in a heap on the floor, but Pippin is at the bottom with the honey and the hive.

YIPPIE HOORAY

“Oh my Pippin Bear, you may not be a big bear just yet, but you certainly have a BIG heart.” Said Mummy Brown Bear.

‘Yum’ said Pippin Bear.

All the friends sat to a table eating honey and bread.

The bees are eating too with mini cups and plates.
